Theres not really much you can do without spending loads of money which is why most people on FT will reccomend dropping a 2.0 in there.
Keep it how it is and save up!

It's true, there isnt much point tuning the 1.6 engine, it's very restricted in the head. a stage 1 head is about £500.
i bought and fitted a 2ltr in mine for £227
