Tuning a xr2i 8v engine

CVH and Zetec tuning, suspension and braking mods.

Postby xrsi on Mon Mar 18, 2002 12:00 am

Am thinking of putting a 2i 8v engine into my fiesta.
What sort of BHP can i expect from one of these engines with the following

K&n
Performance Exhaust
Cams
Chip
Ported + polished
Overbored to just over 1600

Also how much would this little lot cost me?? - i already have exhaust though!

Thanks

James

With that sort of spec 130bhp would be more likely with raised compression (I read elsewhere on the site a 20 thou head skim is good) as well as having a fiesta or escort turbo crank fitted to cope with the extra power.

I'd say Prit's right - about 130bhp should be possible, although you may start to lose fuel efficiency in a big way.

Oh James, I would expect you'd need 1mm oversized valves on your head too.

Power Engineering provided XR2 Babe's other half's engine which is basically a stage 3 head, Accralite pistons (I think), raised compression, ERST block and crank, and a custom cam, and puts out something in the region of 130 bhp with an FSE boost valve (I know ), air filter and zorst, but this has yet to be RR'd since fitting.

Enoch - try a dedicated RS breakers (they advertise in Fast Ford and Perf Fords mags) and sort your sig out!!!

you can pick up a reconditioned lump from a ford dealer because their engines are classed as spare parts, you can save money to by giving them your old engine. if you know any ford employees they can save you 40% on engines which would save you around 400 pounds.
