Filter and exhaust and then leave it alone. Beyond this point you will have to spend serious money and end up with very little gain from the outlay. The 1.3 makes about 75bhp which is nice going for an engine of it's size. Beyond there look at replacing th ecar or performing an engine swap to either 2.0 Zetec, 1.7 Puma or RST power

apart from the normal mods (filter, exhaust etc) there's not really a huge amount that can be squeezed outta the 1.25 for reasonable outlay as it already has a fairly high output for its size. engine transplants are really the only option. apart from nos..... alternatively you could uprate the suspension and brakes, that way you could brake later, corner quicker and emabarrass bigger engined cars.. not that we condone that behaviour on the road....

hi there okay my mate has one of these and it flies they are not 75bhp they are actually 82bhp if rolling roaded standard dont no why thats with no mods also personally i would either fit the 1.7 out of a puma 125ps good start or a 1.7 racing puma engine 150ps better start not a 2.0 zetec stick with the zetec se engine just easier like an fiesta si 2.0 conversion same puma speed charge £2000 for 1.7 conversion supplied.

tuning standard you can get a s/s 4-2-1 manifold, s/s exhaust system, decat, panel filter will see 105bhp easy then you could go fast road camshaft from piper or kent, chip then tb's with the inlet on the front on a zetec se engine you will see a great improvement dont no what bhp though.

my mates has a decat, manifold, filter and can beat most cars of the line up to 50mph for example rst's skoda vrs both !!etc

but he has replaced his engine twice so personally woudnt bother lolol! go 1.7 start from there then you will be very sleeper and rip on !

hope this irons everything out as people are putting bad thhings when these are powerful light engines tuned by yamaha ask mk1 and mk2 owners with these conversions
