Get yourself an K&N, Pipercross, Ram Air induction kit and a full zorst system Magnex, Scorpion, Powerflow etc.

The Si quite limitied [ERRR] it designed to be a little sporty but economical at the same time

Do you have a hairdryer or food mixer at home?

You're more likely to get 110bhp out of one of them m8.

Save up for a capacity increase instead, like Mark says

mate you dont need to upgrade the suspension or brakes

si 16v is the same as xr2i 16v and RS1800.

The engine will swap straight across

I've fitted an RS1800 to my Si. Cost me £230 for the engine with 50k on it. Then I fitted it myself with a mate so it didn't cost anything to fit. Needed a new battery and starter motor to cope properly though.

Why not modify the 1.6 you have? Its a zetec right? I had a 1.6 cvh and pushed 135hp and 130lb/ft torque with just my own gas flowing, twin 40's and a home made exhaust. And oh did it fly for a home made engine only cost me £300 for everything from head gasket to the actual engine, still running fast a year on too! Sure with a zetec you could push well over that.

It's just not worth pouring the money into the 1.6 Si engine. As Brad said,he put in an RS1800 engine for £230,and they have 130 brake to start with (I think).By the time you had 130bhp from the si you'd probably have collected you bus pass

would a k&n and a stainless add bhp or would it evem loose some as the exhaust is very good on the si, would the bhp increase be worth it ? if anything i will only do the j&n [ERRR] i know the 1.6 isnt an engine that likes to be tuned, so would it improve performance, or is there a chance of a bhp decrease

Okay, this is what confuses me really - why bother trying to tune a 1600 engine when you can drop 1800s and 2.0L engines literally straight into the engine bay of a Zetec fiesta - the hp per £ gains are much better, more reliable, and standard 2.0L heads are cheaper than a 1600 head that's been ported, polished, cammed up, etc.

Soapbox away, off to pub

Not yet Nicky!

basically if you want lil shine at your rear end go for an exhaust change. Dont bother with an K&N as the standard Ford airbox and filter are more than sufficient and arent really that restrictive.

and YES i agree about the "Insurance Brokers" esp as your only 17. so as you said why not just go for a bit of ICE instead so you can enjoy your outings in the car.
