All you have to do is declare the capacity increase. Tuning an engine is no less costly for insurance, often more so. And the more you tune an engine, generally speaking, the less reliable it will become, simply due to the greater operating stresses.

Sorry fella, but if you want more power I honestly think an 1800 Zetec has a shed load more potential - the 1600 head is designed for torque, not bhp and is very very restrictive - not a good tuning start point imho.

Yeah project i hear what your saying and tottaly agree, thats what im planning to do whenever i get the confidence to fit one, i really doubt me and a haynes manual could sort it, i wouldnt trust myself.

a 1.6 si 16v can have a turbo fitted for for £2.5k and all the trimmings expected bhp after all that 160 :eek:

i.e. only 20 more than a 2.0L and the Haynes manual is plenty good enough as a basic start point. Ask most of the people here how they taught themselves to look after cars and I bet many if not most will tell you they got a manual of some kind and "had a go".
