My 2i has been serviced regular, but it's starting to get sluggish, ive cleaned the induction kit and other breather filters and it's still the same so ive booked it in to be tuned, Is there much they can do or is everything controlled by the ecu? am i wasting my money?

On an 8v you can tweak the idle CO levels, make sure the fuel pressure is optimal (if you're not using an fse powerboost valve shouldn't be much to do) er, check the throttle sensor is aligned correctly... about it really.

You only have slight control over the fueling and no control over ignition timing.

It could be crudded up injectors, maybe throw a bottle of injector cleaner in. Not sure how effective this stuff is though.

If it's feeling sluggish you could get them to check the output of some of the main ecu sensors and run an ecu diagnostic.
