Tuning Zetec Around Manchester?
I need a place who will chip my car and set the timing on the cams.
I will need a remappable chip so it needs to be somewhere who can program them etc.
Get a good rolling road tune out of it and see what its pushing.
Anybody know I good place around greater manchester for this?
Would a budget of around £450 cover this at a guess?

my 2.0 is booked in with Motorsport Developments next month. Without doubt they are the best , there chip can take total control of the ecu and doesnt get stuck within the ford pre set paremetres that other chips do.
i believe they take ur car out on the rd with a laptop hooked up and map it as they go, impressive stuff. Cant wait to have mine done [ERRR] be even more of an animal

not a clue mate but it feels fast, id say its over 160 but i dunno really. Havent really raced anything off the lights to compare it against either, i raced a std punto turbo and beat him , i was wheel spinning away in first and second still leaving him for dust and that was b4 i fitted the 2.0 ECU
i wanna come up against a clio 172/182 or a type r to see if i can keep up with one them , dunno if i will not

Sunil_FiestaRS_16V : that was b4 i fitted the 2.0 ECU
Now I am scared, what ECU will I be running? (1.6 or 2.0) any easy way to tell?
Saying that if they remap the ecu to suit the car does it really matter which it starts with?

you need to run the 2.0 really , you can get the 1.6 one chipped by MSD but they told me it would cost more as they would have to build a base map for the 2.0 instead of just tweaking the one on the ECU.
You need an ECU with the codes DEEP, TELL or COLT/CULT.

Now that is confusing!
Firstly how do I find out what I am running?
How much did it cost you to get your 2.0 ECU sunil?
And how much extra for messing with the 1.6 one?
Could still be cheaper just to get the 1.6 re-done (if I find out which I have)

the price for the chip for the 1.6 & the 2.0 i'm sure will be the same price.
A 2.0 ECU will allow the engine to go the full way, but the 1.6 will hold back @ top end.

To find out what u have u have to take the ecu out and check the code. to get the ecu out u have to take off the black riverted panel at the top right of the bay and undo the rubber protector then u should be able to drop the ecu down into the passengers footwell.
My 2.0 ecu was 35 quid from someone off passionford, scrappies ten to do em for around 40 quid but none round my ways had the right one.
and i doubt it will be cheaper to get the 1.6 one done but u might lucky cause the reason it was expensive was that they didnt have a 2.0 base map but maybe after they do mine they will keep the base map for future use i dunno.

It is the same price if its the right ecu on the right engine but not if ur running a 1.6 ecu on a 2.0 as the base map on the ecu is wrong and needs to be setup for the 2.0 b4 the tweaking can be done so it would take more time.
i found the 1.6 ecu restircted the car alot especially in the midrange , after the ecu change the car felt much more reposive and much faster through the midrange. The high revs didnt seem to change much except there was less of a kick at 5k with 2.0 ecu but i think thats down to the 1.6 ecu making the mid range flat so wen it hit the high revs it seemed to suddenly take off, but now its much smoother delievery throughout the revs and the car is so much more drivable

Yeah mine does that just over 4000 it kicks in.
I will give them a call, see what they say!
If they have the base stored from yours it should make it easier for me (and future people goin)
I thought the 2.0 ECU doesn't plug straight in?
