Turbo into a mrk4?

Postby crazyshad1 on Tue Mar 15, 2005 2:01 pm

After the death of my turbo last year and not being happy with my reliable rover, i've decided i need another turbo.

Theres a mrk4 for sale in my village which has had a full respray in imperial blue with a mrk5 front end on zetec s bumpers all for the bargain price of 2k

Has anyone put a FRST engine into one or a zetec turbo?

Need the turbo rush again but not in a mrk3

My friend has been doing a FRST conversion since last year on his Mk5 and has nearly finished now, but has had lots of problems keep on poping up but he is determined to get it finished, no matter how much it costs.

The main problems he has come across, Engine mounts, gearbox, gearbox mounts, wiring, driveshafts.

He has done most of hard work himself, but has to get the car sent away to have the wiring done and some driveshfts made up.

So it is possible but needs quite a bit work to get it in.

His car should be done in couple of months, I get some pics as soon as it is finished.

Turbo puma 1.7 :)

Newer ford engines from stuff like the puma should drop in with very few probs. Speak to either Puma Build or Puma Speed, I think one or the other is prepared to turbo em too.

How did you know i've got a Vi?

i've got a few options 2 think about,

1. ive already got a ZR 160 inplace of the 145bhp, do i get the head ported (£590) and stick some throtle bodys on (£1500).

2. Buy a complete tomcat for about a grand. it will cost around £500 for it to be fitted and set up with my enging in exchange. 200bhp as standard

3. Buy the fiesta spend around 3k on a zetec build.

Cars give me such a head-ache! :x

its got the ZR 160 engine in it. ZR dampers with 40mm springs and sway bars.

i've got a full ZR kit but have decided 2 sell the front end as a new slam panel needs 2 be welded on to accept the headlights and and bumper.

Looks like tomact here we come.

Thanx for pointing me in the right direction.
