turbo's and other question's

Postby andyleesy on Tue May 23, 2006 2:12 pm

ok, first off - are the engine mounts the same on the HCS and the CVH? as i currently have a mk3.5 and want to put a RST engine in it..
secondly - what do i need to source for the conversion? would and xr2i engine do and just turbo it? can't seem to find any full STANDARD rst engines - excluding having them built for you by engine specialists for £1000 +
ideally i'd like to buy it all as one piece and take it to pieces if i want to do anything to it...
so basically what do i need to source for the engine/turbo/loom/ecu/manifolds off what cars etc.
i know about brakes and suspension, but just don't have a clue about turbo's
lol
thanks for any help

Being absolutely honest mate don't bother. You will have to put a wedge of cash in to do it and insurance will be a pain. Sell what you have now (less any bits you want to carry over) and just buy a Fiesta RS Turbo.

There are still some good cars left out there and you will find insurance easier. Also you will only ever have a 1.3 bonus etc with a turbo motor. If it says RST on the logbook when you come to sell on you will stand a fighting chance of getting some of your cash back

Just because I keep talking about definetly doing it doesn't mean I'm actualy going to do it.

2.0 works well but you'll have to throw a fair chunk of cash at it for further perfomance stuff. 200bhp is a piece of piss from a FRST and with that you have a power to weight ratio of about 204bhp per ton and a bundle of torque that's only about 8bhp per tonne shy of a stage 1 Cossie :D

Admittidly I'd rather thrash the nuts out of a Zetec than a blown CVH

i have a 1.6L Si aswell
the turbo i would like as a sleeper project...just for fun, im not thinkin of cash - if i was thinking of cash i wouldn't have cars as a hobby! i'd like chess or something else
its technical advice i'd want
i have a spare shell, which is good and nothing to do with it..
turbo's are like 3,000 for a good one, and £1500 for abit of a rattler, plus everyone know's it's quick just by looking at the exterior.
maybe im strange
