turbo
ive got a carb fed cvh and also just recieved a turbo, after some investigation on the cvh engine it appears that you can run a turbo without lowering compresion as long as the boost is limited to a max of 7psi, how can i adjust the boost pressure on the turbo?

by u saying u got a turbo, i take it u mean that u got a turbo from either a fiesta or escort turbo!
if so, wheres the oil feed and return gonna be??
intercooler?
ecu to control all the amal valve etc!
also, do u think that they develop the FRST or ERST engine for fun!!
they have lower compression for a reason! SO THEY DONT GO BANG!!!! thats whats gonna happen if you just put a turbo on and hope for the best like u seem to be doing!!!!

To the point...xrsi
Was the ERST carb??? cos so far as I knew injection was the way to go when it came to turboing...easier anyway...just for the simplicity of getting the charge from the turbo into the throttlebody/inlet manifold??
but yeah they low comp the bottom end for a reason... the standard CVH FRST only runs at about 8psi with lower comp pistons...

in contrast to what the other two peeps say, it can be done, it it can work well.
idealy youll want a tt kit for thr mk2 xr2. they were designed to run at about 6-7 psi, and run on the standard pistons, with a standard c/r.
you will not be able to play with the boost though,. but i know of one tt xr2 running 150 bhp, which is not to be looked down upon.
the oil feed for the turbo will come from where the oil pressure switch is, just like on the frst, and erst. the sump will need to be removed, and a return welded to it.
intercooler- get one that fits, ers or frst are easy to do on this conversion, although the one running 150bhp is running an front mounted cooler from a mitsubishi
on the tt kit there is no amal valve, as the kit is not electromnically controlled as the frst is- all boost control is done through the wastgate, which incidently is how you adjust the boost level.
hope that is is some help matey:)

yeah, they are rare, but not as rare as you would think, plus if youve got the maunal it is possible to make up you own kit, the only bit that you really do need is the plenium for the carb, as all other parts can be sorced elsewhere
if your after a copy of the manual pm me
