if i put the cavalier turbo pistons in the 2.0 zetec, does that lower the compression enough or will i have to use a decompression plate aswell? can some people give me advice as i dont know alot about compression ratios

the lower the compression the better doode.
also consider goog head work and head gasket, managment and turbo and cooler with a decent box etc etc

I disagree with lower compression being better;, lower compression simply means you can run more boost before det occurs but will make the car worse off boost and make it feel laggier.

Hello mate, below are the items which I have needed so far on my 2.1 Zetec turbo. This isnt a definative list as there are many ways of doing this and what parts to use, this is just the way i chose to do mine.

I think the cavalier turbo pistons will lower the compression enough on there own - thinks its around 8 to 1. im sure someone will confirm exact value.

FRST inlet Manifold
Adapter or tap head for Inlet Manifold
spacer plate for inlet manifold
High flow injectors
I also used an Orion throttle cable bracket as it fitted better
cvh turbo manifold
turbo manifold adapter or modified manifold to fit Zetec head
large intercooler
custom pipework for intercooler
Probable a slim fan
mk3/mk3.5 zetec coolant system - I chose to use cvh radiator
maybe some custom coolant hoses depending on radiator and how bothered you are about joining hoses together
custom map and maybe a different map sensor? prob need a 2.5bar one for your application
1.8 zetec fiesta oil and water pump
1.8 zetec fiesta sump
Zetec gearbox plate for a fiesta or make a custom plate as the CVH one doesnt quite fit
You will have to modify some of the FRST wiring - only a little though
Bonnet raisers and I also had to lose my bonnet catch
turbo oil feed
new breather in back of block and block the front one
Im using a escort Cosworth oil seperator
custom engine mount
vibratecnic gearbox mounts if using one engine mount
Zetec alternator pulley if using CVH alternator

I think thats everything Iv had to get so far. Most of the things are small and can be got from breakers yards. I reckon you should be able to run around 220 to 250 bhp on your setup. Anymore and you really need to change your rods. Are your Pistons forged or standard jobbies?

To be honest this all depends on how much you want to spend. I opted to use fiesta turbo management mainly due to cost. other management systems like omex, pectel etc are better but your looking at alot of money to have it all fitted. If your going to use aftermarket management I would choose the one which your mapper is familiar with.

You will need to get your car mapped, i am getting mine done at Grove garage by Ahmed, he asked me to use Lancia Intergrale Evo injectors for mine but i know most mappers would use different ones. If your aiming for no more than 220bhp then beiges would be fine. I think some people also use 200sx injectors.

Where are you planning on getting it setup?

If you are using fiesta turbo management you will need to buy the ecu and wiring loom. You will then need to buy a re-mappable chip,I used a powerchip for mine. You then need to buy the injectors and map sensor. I think you will probably need an inlet manifold, I have a spare one if your interested. I'm not sure if you can use the standard zetec one or not because of the type of injectors. I can give you more detail on this if you need it as you have to modify the head to take the manifold and make some adapters.

The standard zetec has the block breather at the front. You will need to block this using a plate or core plug and make a new one in the back. This is because the turbo will hit on the one infront. There are details of this on a budget Zetec turbo build on here.

Are there any piggy back ECU's you can run on Zetev management when your gonna turbo it? I have not heard of any, although that doesn't mean there isn't any. I would be tempted to go the same route as others on this forum, that way there is support available to you.
