Not worth it, would cost more than transplanting a FRST engine in!

Well..for a reasonable amount(under 500 quid)you could get a second hand fiesta turbo exhaust manifold and turbo and some boost pipes,a R5GTT carb and fuel pump and a thicker head gasket and it would work fairly well..I have just finished doing a test setup of this on a 1.4 cvh in a mk2 fiesta..It's all in bits again cos the engine needs a partial rebuild and I didnt want to bother doing that until I knew the conversion would work..
You will be limited to about 5 psi though..Should be good for 110bhp or so with no other internal mods. :D

Pretty good then, but if he has a choice of 1.4 or XR2i engine he may as well just get the latter as that is 110bhp without any extra mods.

it would better to get the FRST engine, as the 1.4 CVH and 2i CVH aint got low compression pistons so you coudn't run much boost, and the FRST engine got different Gudgeon pins in it to cope with the strain of the Turbo power. Plus you would need to get an oil return feed plumbed into the sump on the 2i or 1.4 CVH.

The main reason I am doing it to the 1.4 is lower road tax and insurance.. Plus the fact that it is already in the car..and I was just interested to see how well it worked..

I've contemplated the idea myself recently aswel, would it also be worth fitting a frst gearbox aswel??? could u use fsrt gudgeon pins aswel??? would it be possible to get low compression pistons?

mmm yeah would be better off getting the FRST box or XR2i one, but as for low comp pistons, i don't know wether you can get low comp ones for a 1.4, if you bought 1.6 low comp piston's you would have to bore your 1.4 block out to size.

not looked into low comp pistons, but I'm sure a friendly machine shop could dish a set of standard ones out witout too much aggro..The late xr2i 16v box or an rs1800 one would do fine and would probably be less thrashed than a rst one..I'll do some asking around tomorrow and see what I can find out piston wise..
