Postby turboboss on Sat Jan 21, 2006 7:02 pm

does anyone know whats involved in fitting a twin plate paddle clutch to a zvh powered frst, i need a clutch that will handle 400fbt my current helix six paddle is slipping :x and i know a twin plate paddle will take more power then my engine will produce. i dont want to chance it with another single plate that wont be up to the job..does anyone know what clutch sunny use to run or paul johnson.. or any 300+ bhp frst or escort

400 how the f*ck do you keep it in a straight line, i bet the pull feels awesome in a fiesta my cousin has a 420 bhp cos 4x4 with similar torque and that puts you in the back seat.

does a cossie 6 paddle alcon not take more than the rst alcon?

been reading a fair few peeps moan about the alcon recently, great seeing as ive just fitted one :(

if it goes, ill upgrade to the helix one you have, should be more than enough for my engine.

as for twin paddle, id neevr seen them till i saw the pics you had posted on here or on pf  i bet they cost a bit :(
No longer a FRST owner, or even a Fiesta owner :(

Presently looking into this.

You will need a custom steel flywheel.

Check out http://www.apracing.com

They have a few options for you.

i think most companies that make good single plate will make twin or tripple plate, AP Alcon Helix are the obvious ones, im not sure how lucky you will get with finding one to fit the gearbox though,
think finding one to spline with the input shaft may be the difficult bit

brom @ zoo motrosport was going to use the standard flywheel just has to machine some plates then bolt them on.. but he is on long term sick and i dont know anyone else who could do it for me.. single plate clutches are easy to fit but whats involved in fitting a twin plate??

I do not know much about twin plates but I have heard they 'rattle' at idle. Dont think that would bother you too much tho.

i did, the clutch i am currently running is his ffm ultimate clutch its ok on 10psi sometimes slips on 17psi not a hope in hell on 27psi mine you i did'nt get it directly from him, brom at zoo motorsport spoke to helix and this is suppose to be the clutch ffm use in there 300bhp+ conversion with no problems, my flywheel was skimmed but i still cant understand why it is slipping :x :x unless its the same clutch
