Tyres for a zt

Postby SEG1 on Sun May 10, 2009 6:13 pm

i need a good set of tyres for my zt.
they need to be 'the good sh*t' as i know im going to have issues with traction.

if i could get some recommendations from people it would be very helpful.

was looking at a set of Toyos R888, but i herd they dont last long normally,so on a FWD beast ill be changing my front tyres every week.

my normal tyre size is 195/45/15,i was thinking to up the profile to 50 for better traction.i don't know if this is a good idea though.

TBH mate if your car is stripped out etc there not overally harsh on tyres.

Im running 888 in super soft compound at mo and there holding up fine. Do a hard track day and they will begin to wear quicker though.

For a road tyre you cant go wrong with the Yokohama Prada2 tyres.

I would run 195 50 15 though or if you can 205 50 15.

All depends on what shocks, wheels and arch mods you have done mate.

Im running 205 50 15 on mine with no rubbing.
But ive cut alot of the arch out.

Check before hand though mate, more than welcome to try a wheel on your car.

Have to be at Classic Ford show though, as I wont have spare wheels/tyres at FITP.

Was also gonna say try the Yoko parada2's had these on my Azev's and they were very sticky tyres, not brilliant in the wet but hey ho. I try not to go out if it's raining anyway.

I have toyo proxes t1r at the moment, I needed some tyres quick and cheap and I'm only using it for work at the moment so couldn't justify getting some r888's. They are nowhere near as sticky as the parada's.

I will get a set of r888's as soon as I start hitting the track though :Q

i have used yoko prada2's for my road tyres for the last year or so and they great and hard wearing and they are wider than most 195's aswell, as my mate put it , its a true 195 in width , i have also found them not to be to bad in the wet.

my mate uses the tyres you got for his racing series and he says they good in the dry but not so good in the wet.
