If they're all over 21's get a parent or friend to get the car for you...? Sounds easiest to me...

they put age limits on it to stop people driving really fast expensive cars for the day. Not everyone insures by the day so I hardly think that its the cause of people driving around with no insurance...!

Just try phoning up the major companies (Direct Line, Churchill, CIS, Tesco etc) and see if they would let you do a day policy, but it'd prob be more cost effective to go for a week. I'm only 19 and have driven my parents car on a week policy with Tesco.

please try not to give out illegal advice on the forums. thats the sort of thing that will get you banned.

depending on how far away the car is id say tow it (if its within a few miles) or try and get a friend or parent to get a week policy on it.

Try http://www.tempcover.com they do temporary insurance cover from 1 to 28 days!

Perfect if you only want to go and collect a new car or borrow one for a day etc.

Me and my brother have both used them and have had no problems!

There is also http://www.dayinsure.com which is the same kind of company, ive not used it myself though.

tell that to someone when you have hit them "i couldnt be bothered to get insurance seemed to much hassles so i thought f**k them it will be fine"

GAV.2i :i always drive cars i buy with no insurance till i get home and ive been stopped once and i didnt get in any trouble.

let me know when your picking up your next car, i wont be out. and what copper says its ok to drive without insurance, i hope you got his name and id number and reported him.
anyone who drives without insurance in my opinion is scum!

parents or a mate to drive it back with insurance is your best bet, i dont know what it is about the 2is and the turbos, but i find insurance on them stupid, ive done a few qoutes and im a completly clean driver and very few will touch me on one, insurance its stupid, still need it but its so silly
what i mean im 20, 3 years ncb no points
group 14 mitsi-£857
group 20 mitsi=£957
group 14 mk1 golf GTI=£750
XR2i-£1600
FRST-£1800
i dont know why they are so hard to insure.
have you tryed norwich union, i know they are funny about young drivers, but they do, do one day policys i think.
failing that, insure the car and you as a named driver on your parents policy for a few days and then get taken off. thats what i used to do :)

and please do get insurance, its not just a fine anymore its points on your liscence, and could be a lot more if you have an accident

If you already have a policy you can ask about a temporary additional vehicle.
Nothing to see here...

That seems odd! I'm 20 and coming up to 3ncb in a couple of weeks time, and I can get insured on 200bhp Zetec Turbo for a little over £1000

My RS1800 is only £600 as well.. weird insurance companys

well its because of the boy racer image that they have gained over the years. and the fact that they are quite often stolen and also quite often are driven by assholes who will drive them off the road and into a tree.
but the same is true of the golf so i havent got any ideas past that.

and i guess to the untrained eye, they look identical to an rs turbo.
although i have heard its harder to insure a replica 2i than it is to insure a genuine 2i? anyone know on that :-? :-?

my friend just after passing his test was able to get temporary insurance but his mum got the policy and he was put on as the named driver for the policy which was for a month and cost him £28 or something so you can always do that but just for the day or whatever you need it for. i cant remem which insurer he went with but if you ring them up and ask you will find out
