Unusal Bore Size's ?!?!

Problem or technical question?

Unusal Bore Size's ?!?!

Postby Ice 159 on Mon Apr 22, 2013 7:42 pm

Hi Guys.

I'm just wondering if anyone can help me?

My old fiesta turbo engine is a 1989 model and the block has a crack in it so has failed and is leaking water.

I then purchased a later 1991 spec model with a damaged con rod by mistake :( So I thought I could swap the cylinders . But the bore sizes seem to be different by about 1mm.

Also the con rods on the engines have different numbers on them one is 470 and one is 578....

Any info would be great and btw they are both genuine ford parts on both.

Perhaps been honed out and oversized rings fitted ?
Nothing to see here...

Yes it does look like this but the Cylinders them selves are a different size by about 1mm but they are both genuine ford parts :-?
