Mandy - I won't be giving it full welly through corners, that's a good way to make it go straight on I haven't had issues with my back end letting go yet, but the ZS beam is definitely going to need to be done!
Edwards - Ello! Just not the same without MSN is it? I'll think about all the places I'm going in summer and if any of them are within a distance of you I'll pop in Bring on the new car You back in sunny England now then?

The rear beam doesn't let go so much (it will if you let off violently mid corner) but it DOES hugely increase understeer.
I'm waiting for something better than the ZS rear beam
Cheers,
Andy

heeman10 :I know all about lift-off oversteer Better than ZS beam? ZT beam?
No - Focus control blade rear setup, much more expensive than the ZS rear beam but should be ALOT better for around the twistys
Zoo motorsport are still developing it I believe.
Cheers,

The ZS rear beam will naturally increase understeer on a Mk 3 Fiesta. Standard practice for a FWD drive car is to have the front track slightly more than the rear track to give you best results. So if you push the rear hubs out 20mm, consider pushing the fronts out 20mm, and you'll see massive increases in handling ability

I think this is just a case of the wrong phrase, I'm sure Kenny is taking about controlled overboost. Big turbo Escort Cosworth had a 3 second overboost and the small turbo an 8 second overboost.heeman10 : He asked if I wanted any kind of boost spike (eg peak at 18psi and hold 15)

That's very likely. Either way, I was 15psi to be the maximum. I'll try to get a power run in next week if I can, think I'll need to be videoing that too

u loser i not back yet bro bak on sunday then organising to pick up me new car, bt cant drive it atm as insurance aint up for 4 weeks
but on the bright side its goin in to be fully delocked as soon as i get it so be there a week then in stourage for 3 then on the road
i'll be rippin it up on msn sun night
as for mandy i hear of this new ''beam'' zoo are amking but i have noticed zoo are very ''weld'' friendly alot of there joints involve welds and i dont and wont trus non qualified welders to do a beam espesially where strength is important, hence why i chose the area six arms not zoo' s welded jobs.....
just my opinion

MattL - I'm more likely to let you remove my arm than to let you drive my car I'm expecting 215bhp, but that's total guesswork.
Rawli - 120bhp at LEAST! 150bhp if I crank that boost up
ad - That'll give you three weeks to give it a good clean and poke around, bet you just sit in it every day till you're insured Lucky git!!!

No, it won't need running in. The engine has done about 9,000 miles now so it's fully run in. Like I said above, expecting around 215bhp, give or take 15bhp or so

There are a lot of differences between our engines. Mine is a 1.8, theirs are 2.1. Mine uses standard pistons, but a decompression plate to lower the compression ratio, whereas theirs use forged pistons with custom compression ratios. Mine is a "cheap" way of doing the Zetec Turbo thang really, but that by no means means it won't work. They are both using quite different turbos to mine. Mine is of the old school, non-roller bearing generation, which theoretically means it will be more laggy. But by the accounts of the builder of my engine (spun the wheels at 2,500rpm in third gear) I don't think I'm going to have any major issues in that area.

i think you will find there is a huge difference ie james is only using a std 1.8 btm end, and ft inlets and std cams basically james has done the cheap version... which is a safe 200bhp and the opertunity to run alot more in the future when he actually decides to work instead of being a bum at uni!!!!!!

OH!
I thought yours was a 2.1 like the rest, looks very similar, but probably because i'm a muppet.
I like how you didnt chop up your bumper to fit the cooler, looks really stealthy, espcially with diesel badge on the back
So which turbo did you use then?

The Zetecs all look the same really from above, so don't feel stupid. Everyone will assume it's a 2.0/2.1 I think, maybe I'll scribble 1.8 on it to stop the annoying questions!
The TDI badge went a couple of weeks ago, replaced by a 1.8T badge bought from Audi. I like the bumper too, though it cracked at the bottom for some reason It still needs modifying a bit anyway, so it's something to sort out in the future. It's using a T3 turbo from a SAAB, though I don't know what exhaust housing it is. Clearly works though!

Update
Spoke to Kenny this afternoon and the car is now sitting waiting to be collected I'll be picking it up a touch before 10am tomorrow, meeting Rawli there, then going on to StreetDragster's house. Both camcorder batteries are charged and ready, don't want to overdo things on the first day though....very wary of that.
Bring it on!!!!!!!!!!! A year's wait and a long long time of dreaming has come to an end :D:D

So by around midday tomorrow both our cars will be immobile heaps.
...seriously, glad to hear it mate, will be interested to see some footage of the car in action, if you could see your way clear to edit out the gay and animal stuff from the tape first.

wtf!! weld friendly ,non qualified welder first of all he is a qualified welder who use to work Ferrari in there handling department and also use to race mk3 fiestas on an oval track, what do you mean by weld friendly? how else is he to bond two bits of metal together, his front arms for the fiesta are totally custom with adjustments for both caster and camber with proper rose joints and look quality and not just welded up standard arms like area six,i have got his rose jointed rear beam which helps with high speed stability and Cornering,he is now working on a new style rear beam which will be fully Independent like on the focus he are hopin to have it fitted to my car for national day ....area six are having him design a new front cradle for his focus, paul ripley off here has his front arms and rear beam... rod tarry cosworth top speed holder has his rear beam, prop shaft and various other suspension Components, Martin Hadland of Reyland Motorsport uses him so he knows his stuff... just my true opinion

I didn't want to say anything but what Adam said did smell like the proverbial when talking about Brom's work...
I think I'd rather trust his work than whoever Ian gets to do the work on his lower arms (because I'm pretty sure it's not Ian who does the welding work on them!).
Cheers,
Andy
