changing the speaker wire from the standard ford stuff is better , just get some average speaker cable works just fine but dont expect a massive difference in sound quality and using decent connectors helps aswell.

i wouldnt expect to gain anything with Ford speakers, but with aftermarket stuff it works a treat.

wont help much unfortunately...but if running OE equipment..any oxygen free cable will be fine...and believe it or not...any oxygen free cable for most installs is perfectly fine!

Seen some installs that have several smalller wires all wrapped together for each channel. Doubt very much most people would notice any difference.

I tend to just use OFC cable that I got on a drum from my local car Hi-Fi place when it closed.

I've currently got some Sony 6x9s and some Kenwood components, both rated well over the 50w per channel my CD player puts out, yet I still get distortion at volume level 22 or so (out of 50). I'm sure it used to go louder in my old car where I had proper speaker wire, rather than using the Ford wiring like I have in this one. I'll rip all the wiring out and see if it makes a difference! Cheers for the help.

Bear in mind the power supply to the stereo too then. If it's not able to get enough electric it may start distorting stuff.

It's connected to a wiring harness and then to the Ford stereo...plug...Is there a better way of connecting it?

Yep. By running a thicker, fused wire to the fusebox or battery.
