upgrading frst engine
Hi,I have a frst which is in standard condition except for a K&N induction kit.
I'm thinking about fitting a kent cams cvh31k kit. They claim a 15 bhp increase, are the real figures near that value?Do you recommend it or should I think about something else?
thanks in advance

i think that figure of 15bhp is when you also add an induction kit (which you have) and a bigger exhaust or something. without those 2 you will be looking at a minimal increase in bhp so there would be no point.

i would fit an after market exhaust and the up the boost to 9psi for a little extra power (extra 15-20hp) if you want more then a new intercooler and chip (+ more boost) is required but then your clear for 180bhp on standard oe cam

leave the std cam in there if its in good condition.
uprated exhaust would be a goood idea.
get a good 165 chip and uprated actuator and you can run upto 13psi boost safely
good quality intercooler will be next and youll feel extra power at high rpm (not pace!)
hope your engines in good condition for these mods....

I have that cam fitted to my engine, i would seriously doubt it gave me 15bhp.
