upgrading to xr2i clocks help

Postby b0yracer on Mon Oct 11, 2010 8:44 pm

hi, im going to fit a set of clocks with the rev counter into my fiesta 1.1 (just have speedo fuel and temp gauge on mine) will i need to get any wiring loom plugs or such like? or is it a matter of plugging it straight in. will i need to add a wire for the rev counter?

ive done older fords mk2 escort etc where its just a matter of swapping the wires round a bit then plugging in

just wondered if any of you guys have done this on mk3 fiesta

thanks

there are aload of guides about this, it all depedns what the dials have come out of, and how basic your 1.1 is,, model wise, some cars have got a rev counter wire plumbed in, some havent, youll uslually have to take a feed of the edis, and wire it in to the clock connector,, and sometimes, with the aid of a supressor,,

yes but since theyre different engines, the XR one may not work, there are some 1.1s out there with the rev counter, or even the 1.3 one would work, but yes you need to tap intot he green wire (2nd in from left ont he edis int he engine bay fire wall)

check out the guides on fiestaguides.co.uk it has it covered on there, with a list of the engine types per clocks setup

not sure about that, there were a few number of 1.1/1.3 ghia's which likely had a rev counter in

you can try the XR2i counter, but yet again it could miss read, or you can simple buy an aftermarket tachometer

and wire it into this green signal wire

i was maybe flukey but i bought my fiesta clocks off ebay as i didnt realise that they were different

but mine were from a M reg 94 fiesta 1.6 si

i had to add a wire i took it straight from the back of the rev counter to the 2nd wire (green) on the edis plug

mine work fine
