Any opinions on the best ones to use? Or the best value? Companies and contacts appreciated, and any peoples past experiences.

Ive read on here many a time that Ford OE (Original Equipment) are better than Felpro, as for other manufacturers I dunno.

For the CVH the best headgasket is the standard genuine Ford item. Used to run a Felpro on my S2 and the fooker blew through the rings between 1 and 2 mid dual carriageway tussel with a Porker :x Will never use them again.

Balls it won't mate. I use one on a 250bhp S2 and know the majority of the big power (300bhp+) RST boys use the stock kit as well. It is widely regarded in RST circles as being the best.

i ve also heard good things about the ford oe gasket....... as i was going to uprate mine as i thought it would be no good coping with around 200bhp but having spoke to a few different tuners they highly recomend them.

i am shore the cometic gasket are a good bit of kit, i think i'll see how mine handles 16psi if it goes i'll uprate when needed. but i ve been assured it'll cope fine

Gary mate I've been running 25psi for 2 years on the OE part with no issues and a good friend with a 300bhp NMS tuned S2 runs one also.

16psi will be a walk in the park for it

As far as I'm awar ethe same doesn't apply for the Zetec as it wasn't intended to be a forced induction engine. Mate of mine runs circa 400bhp in his Zetec Turbo Fiesta, I would be more than happy to ask what he runs and where it came from.

brilliant mate if you could that would be great. ford do a normal head gasket and one which is slightly thicker, when i phoned them they said that head gasket was intended for racing mondeo's and that only performance places like burton power sell them now

I used to have a ford original gasket, but blew one of the rings out.

i've installed a felpro back then .. and it still works like a charm..

but..

i've noticed the original ford one i used thad seperate rings .. whilst the felpo one had joined rings round the cylinder holes.

I've heard the FRST one is different from the ERST s2 one .. is that correct ? (as the S2 one also has joined rings)

i only know i have done two normal gaskets and a Felpro over the years so ive gone with Cometic! Not cheap but supposedly re-useable and capable of some real abuse.

Steve Scott is sponsored by them and uses them on his racer for one example!

depends on yer budget and your use for the car. i seem to work my way through parts for fun and i just keep upgrading as and when needed. If the Cometic goes i would use Felpro personally as they were always cheap enough!

at 200bhp there shouldnt be any real headaches providing everything else is sound and you have had the thing tuned before ragging it about
