Sausage in batter
But it is a preference for how you order it through out your life.
Even though if you order by saying battered sausage you have wasted your life by ordering it wrong!

ENOUGH! If I hear sausages or batter mentioned in conjunction with each other ONE MORE TIME, I will personally find out where that person lives, come to their house, and garotte them with their own intestines.
And yes, I am aware that in a ruddy great dollop of irony, this may be perceived as me being uptight and serious, but frankly, I don't give a baboon's poo.

Hey, I'm just trying to keep the place free of spam. I don't see the point in taking up Ade's server space with smegloads of posts which have no discernible point. I'm all for a bit of banter, but I just can't help but think some of these things are getting a bit old now. They were funny once, but now they're just something I have to wade through in order to read other posts, which makes my job less and less easy, and reduces my enjoyment of reading the boards too. If it's just me who thinks that, then I apologise. I'm not really a grumpy sod.

dontpannic :OH WICKED! Alex has been undermined by one of his own kind
I wouldn't go that far, Alex has a vary valid point about too much crap on the board - especially when it's posted in the wrong forum on a habitual basis. However, I couldn't resist the opportunity to correct all the numpties who think it's "sausage in batter".
And just because I own a Rover too is no reason to refer to us as "own kind".... oh.... well on second thoughts, maybe it is
Speaking of the misposts, who's for, say "banhammer" tuesday, "delete it" thursday and a "rewrite for entertainment of the mods" fridays on any / all misposted threads (and their posters) ? Your "Need help, what's this part?" thread might accidentally turn into a "Need help, won't stay up?!" thread in random if you don't post correctly.

Oh Andy, Andy Andy Andy.
When I said "own kind" I was referring to a mod (Alex) closing a thread then another mod (You) re-opening it to continue discussions. Obviously I am way against spam cluttering up the wrong places - see my post with that Eddie geezer who seemed to ignore every sticky!
But now I know you also have a Rover, that puts a different spin on things
Oh, and banhammer tuesdays, awesome idea. I wonder if it will be as popular as Orange Wednesdays? Or Acension Sundays?

The forum has a quota for the amount of space that can be used for attachments (the default is 50Mb). If it's been exceeded then people need to delete some old ones.

Back on topic -
I think some of the vintage members on the site have done a stirling job at not being diagonosed with mental conditions after some of the crap that people spout! It's scary sometimes!
It cost me £10 to go and buy screen cleaner after I spat a mouthfull of tea all over my monitor when some one said what does the 1.1 mean on a car or something to that effect followed up by is the capacity per cylinder or the whole engine. FFS it's a car enthusiast website... I don't think it would suprise me if some one said they came up with a great idea of having a square wheel, porting and polishing a head by throwing sand into the intake or connecting the exhaust to the inlet.

[uptight&serious]That was me, and what the hell is wrong with asking that????? This isn't a car enthusiast site perchance, there are lots of people who wouldn't know either. Just cause you think its a silly question doesn't mean every one else does! Not everyone builds/rebuilds engines or works as a mechanic you know.[/uptight&serious]
Nah, but seriously, why did that make you laugh? I honestly didn't know - as I'm sure not everyone in the world does!

Re: uptight and serious
Ollie - True, this site has turned people gay and caused exponential aging to the brain.
Jay - I can't find the link but essentially the guy thought he'd come up with some great idea that would do away with forced induction by connecting the exhaust manifold directly to the inlet manifold, a great, lag free solution apparently... TBH it would be good for perhaps 1rpm... anyway... that's from the country were people voted for Bush so it doesn't surpise me.
Dontpannic - I wasn't laughing mate! I wasn't sure if I read what you wrote correctly! It's kind of like asking someone what does 1kg mean on a bag of sugar if they do their own shopping. I didn't realise you had to be an engine builder to understand the fundamentals of the internal combustion engine, possibly the invention of the century. The most work I've done on a car is had the cylinder head off, stripped interiors, replaced suspension and steering components... which is nothing compared with what some people do here in terms of fabrications, paint work, modifications, new ideas, bespoke sollutions. This is why the site is great; there are always people like that to answer questions that perhaps the internet doesn't offer. I genuinly thought that all car enthusiasts understood what happened under the hood i.e. what is the capacity of an engine and 'suck bang blow' at the very least - I can understand how some people might not know about forced induction, fuel types, stroke types etc... I also don't pretend to be a mechanic, but if there is something I don't know about I will tend to go and find out from some sort of resource first before asking some-one. I would have struggled to get the nut off the rear of my front gear-box mount if I hadn't consulted haynes before. I honestly didn't mean any offence by what I said before Edit- I just noticed we have the same quotes... lawl

I think it was such an awesome quote that it made impressions into our minds.
Dude, I understand what happens under the hood but being 19 and having done no work under the hood there are a few things I didn't understand/know. I realise it might sound silly to some people, but then some people ask things about stereo's that some people know but they dont, etc etc. So far the only major bits of work I've done over the years are the wishbones, repairing dents and rust, electrical installations etc. I mean you may ask a question about computers at some point, i.e. whats FSB mean for example, that we techies know but others might not. Works both ways really. Btw, I ain't paying for the screenwipes can get them much cheaper elsewhere

Re: uptight and serious
LOL mate you can't compare knowledge of the Front Side Bus to capacity of an engine! Car maintenance concerns far more people than worrying whether you can squeeze those extra Mhz out of your C2D. For the record I've been OCing for some time now (I've got an oldskool Pentium 1 (150mhz) engineering sample cpu which I had oc'ed to 200mhz thanks to the unlocked multiplier ) Geek at heart here! Made my own PCI sound card at one point Don't dabble that much more though, fried far too many motherboards, CPU's and set MOFSET's on fire to care now. [/bighead]

Well maybe not FSB's but horse riding or sewing or something haha. Point I'm trying to make is everyone on this site is willing to help out and that kind of question was fairly and maturely answered quickly.
Nice history there. I fried my Pentium 166 Overdrive trying to overclock it (must have been 11 or 12 at that point!) Prob with that chip is the fan moulded to the processor itself
