Maybe an earth somewhere?

Tried taking the headunit out and putting the old one in to find out if its a problem with the new headunit?

Get yourself a spare speaker and speaker wire and check each output of the headunit. My guess is a speaker wire may have been trapped under a piece of trim and become damaged causing a short.
