Vibratechnic mounts?

Postby tomcat404 on Wed Oct 10, 2007 1:10 pm

I have read good things about these. Does anyone on here use them? And are they worth an investment?

Cheers

I have been running them on my S2 for the last 6 years without any complaints at all. My old 2i ran them and my FRST will get a set over this winter

Well recommended then, did you notice any improvements over stock?

They keep the engine where it's sposed to be but as they are far more heavy duty the engine damping isn't as good so more vibration is fed through from the engine to the car. On a track or higher power car I would really rate them on a near stock car the standard items are quite acceptable

I read they're good for stiffening up the front end improving acceleration and handling, which makes sense in theory. Have you seen improvements in handling etc? Or am I being fooled by a sales pitch?

Nope but as the engine isn't wasting it's energy by twisting in the bay it puts all it's power where it's supposed to be put. It feels a little more direct but that's it,

go for just the fast road ones as the engine needs a little give not too much i.e what standard ones give you to much if you go for the race ones there too tight but yes the theory is correct gets the power down quick these will be one of my next purchases

Are they a pain to fit? Not by my car right now so can't see how they're fixed on.

not really just that the top nuts above the gear box are a bit tricky to get to but anyone mechanically minded should hve no problem

i have the fast road ones..

the car itself get more vibrations.. as a lot less is absorbed by the mounts.. but.. you'll never have to be afraid of getting dents in the bonnet.
If you combine the vibratechs with a diesel engine mount modification (for CVH) you'll have a very sturdy engine.. which only applies it's power to the driveshafts.. you'll feel everything the engine does (missfire etc) and you can put a pound coin on it's side on the rocker cover.. without it falling over :-p
