Want a cheap Focus RS?

Postby Sparky on Fri Aug 08, 2003 11:01 am

I do!!

Even If I could order one from somewhere I would never be able to pay for it so I was thinking.....

If I bought a 2l zetec Focus I could turbo this and make my own type of replica. Problem is what management to use?!? A few people here have 2 litre turbo zetecs do they all use FRST management? Would I have to swap The focus loom for a FRST one? or even cossie?

I'm guessing that major parts from the Focus RS like the management would be hard to get hold of and extortionatly expensive.

Also does anyone know if the RS body panels would fit on? Does the RS use essentially the same shall as other Focus' or did they change it as they did with the Escort Cossie?

What do you think guys?

Wings and rear qtr panels are different.

Shell is the same.

Management you could use FRST EEC-IV or aftermarket, Autronic, Gems, DTA, Omex, Pectel etc.

Thanks Ade!

I would be building this project over time using limited funds so the cheapest option would be the most attractive!

Any rough prices on aftermarket management systems? Do they use existing sensors from the car or donor cars? Or are they a complete 'kit' with all sensors etc.

Ideally I would like to build and install as much of the engine conversion as possible and use parts available from donor cars such as the FRST. Would cosworth management be possible or is this kind of thing most suited to the FRST electronics?

Cheers for the input....just an idea at the moment but who knows....
