Weird spark plug markings...

NGK's, hmm, not impressed. Caused rough engine, swapped for Champions as these only lasted 4000 miles, and we're talking the bog standard 1800 Mondeo here...

Looks like the spark was tracking down the side of the ceramic, rather than going through the centre!

Graham,

That's quite suprising. NGK's normally work quite well in Ford's Champion's I tend to stay away from due to back experience's with them in the past.
If in doubt use the Ford OE part! :D

It's the 2nd set of NGK's in 12 months!

They're marked PTR5A - 13

Wonder if they're the right ones. The engine had (just swapped the car for a Quattro) a history of pinking, rough idling on Shell Optimax, and had a tendancy to knacker plugs. Maybe there's too much HT ?

Just curious. I'll post them off to NGK and see what they say.

Graham,

If you've swapped it for the quattro - who cares!?!!!!

Have you sold the Mondy now?

Thanks for the article. Awesome what you can find when you dig around.

Yep, traded in the Mondeo, she's off to pastures new. The Quattro is magnificent compared against the Mk1. I'm just paranoid about parking it anywhere in case some dork decides to key it or dent the doors with theirs. Wifey's 206 is going to get a lot more trips in to town from now on :)
