Its not worth it, your best doing a ZVH Conversion.

My first instinct would be to say that it is simply not worth the time and effort when you could get an 1800 Zetec bottom end, which has the benefit of counterbalanced crank, baffled sump, high pressure oil pump, stronger blobk, etc etc etc, but if you can source the 1800 CVH bottom end for not a lot of money you may find you can get a cheap capacity increase.

Imvho, I honestly don't think the effort required to fit an engine that is widely regarded as a pain in the arse to tune can justify the end result when the ZVH is a lot less effort than most people seem to think.

Just imho of course :)

So, I am new to the engine conversion stuff. Are you saying that I could convert my bottom end on my '2i to a Zetec 1800? What all is involved? I will be looking at a new engine this summer (when it warms up) and this seems like a better deal than rebuilding what I have. What cars have the 1800 in them? What about a 2000? is it possible as well?

(engine swap newbie!)

I have converted a Mk2 XR2 to run a 2.0l Zetec botom end useing a fully flowed 8 valve xr2 head, twin 45's, 290 cam, forged pistons, shot peened rods, arp bolts, fully lightend crank/flywheel, ERST box with Quaife ATB diff etc etc.....That is the way forward! :Q
