Postby Gozza_RS on Sun Jun 09, 2002 3:40 pm

I have a FRST 92 J which I bought from some bloke who said it has 195 bhp !!

Could it be this high with the following mods ??

Mongoose exhaust system,
FSE Boost valve,
Bleed valve (unknown boost),
Superchip,
K & N airfilter,
Bailey Dump valve,
Mondeo rear spolier (adds 50bhp at least )
Everything else standard I think :-?

Er I thnk that is it !!

Depends on the chip but I wouldn't believe it till you see it on the rolling road and see some receipts :)

That seems rather high to me. I'd find out what boost you running mate. You don't want the engine to come though the bonnet do ya?

sounds like he bought a 195 chip and naturally assumes that it gives you that BHP, I think :)

If your car has std: turbo, i/c and injectors/fuel pump you have no chance of 195bhp.

The std injectors can not cope with the amount of boost required to make a FRST have 195bhp.

cheers :)

Doh didnt think of that 1. The only way u can tell is if u get it rolling roaded agin, but it aint worth it unless u need to get the car set up if u mod it further.

yeah I was thinking of having it rolling roaded but its a 6 week waiting list and costs about £50 notes I think, unfortunately thats about £49 more than I have at the mo :o

I am happy with it anyway as it always makes me  when I hit the green pedal, spins in 3rd in the wet too so it keeps me on my toes :aaah:
Just wondered, cheers all !!!

Will check the injectors tho

Take of the power boost valve and the bleed valve as neither of these are any good for the engine

It had a 195 superchip, beige injectors, magnex exhaust, piper t2, hybrid t25 and was running 186 bhp@ 1 bar.

now has pace intercooler, adjustible cam pulley, cossy fuel pump but has'nt been to rolling road for a new setup. Oh and Im still using standard airbox and have only clocked up 56K. That dump valve will have to go but what air filter is best??

Would'nt have thought your pushing more than 160bhp, if you are, piston meltdown could be on the cards apart from other millions of problems that you will inevitably have before your car is half way reliable.

You can get 160-170bhp with out the threat of piston meltdown. If set up properly it could be pushing that out.
