What brake hose to use @ rear disc conversion

Postby Jur on Mon Jan 20, 2003 10:19 am

I've printed/read the FF rear disc conversion and seems fairly easy to do. I've got all the parts at home right now.

With the conversion i want change my brake hoses as well..

the front will be re-enforced fiesta hoses .. (cause the manual doesn't talk about changing the hoses of the front)

the rear is a bit more tricky ..

What hoses do i need, what length.. what couplings(nipples) do i need. Those of the Fiesta .. or of the RS2000 ??

The manuals talks of a piece of brake line.. but it needs couplings as well ..

can anyone tell me something about it??

Thanx in advace..

Where possible always use stainless steel braided hoses, from companies like Goodridge.

cheers :)

It's pretty hard to get UK parts in Holland. But there are some dutch companies who make/sell re-inforced (braided) hoses.

Like i typed earlier i'm gonna get some re-inforced hoses,
that ain't the point.

The problem is the length of the rear hoses and the couplings to use..

Make the lines yourself.Easy to do takes minutes and is very cheap. You can buy the hose and connections from places on internet such as demon tweeks, rally design, ears motorsport and lots of other places. All you need to know is what thread you want on each end and at least one end has to have a swivel joint to stop lines twisting and also the length/gauge of the braided line. I would recommend buying the olive type fittings as opposed to compression ones as they look, feel stronger and also no special tools needed.

Having had braided hoses on my car I would recommend getting the hoses that have stainless steel fitting as well as the braid. The standard braided hoses do not have stainless steel fitting, but I found that the Goodridge hoses with stainless fittings were only ~£5 more.
