If you dont have a revs counter then I would hazard a guess that the flat spots are caused by the lack of decent size engine ;)

Where abouts in portsmouth do you live mate?

lol it's only a 1.1, it seems the flatspot only occurs when the engines not fully warmed up though :-?

im in farlington, im usually up Mr T's or down at the corner, black fezz with no spots in the front bumper.

could be low cylinder compressions, but more likely to be that its a old motor and just needs to be warmed up a bit.

An F reg MK3?

I thought the very earliest they came was G. You must have a rare motor there matey :)

As it's a carb motor mate it probably just needs a good service. My MK3 1.6s does exactly the same thing, runs poo when cold but purrs once there is a little heat in there.

Cheer up cos it will soon be spring/summer and then it just doesnt matter

Good call about not going to Liss, surely the land of the living dead!

F was 89 an they changed over from mk2 to mk3 in F, then august changed to G which by then the mk3's where out.

i've just serviced the car... new oil filter and oil change, new air filter, spark plugs and valve clearences. she purred like a kitten... now the valves are tappin away again, lol.

I've been thinkin about some diaphram in the carb or somethin? i hthink its supposed to give it an extra squirt of fuel when it needs it or somethin... apparently they split sometimes :-? maybe that could be causin me flat spot :-?
i'd like to change to an automatic choke, but not sure how cuz i aint payin labour expenses for a garage to do it when i can probably do it myself... just need to know how :) anyone know? :D
