What clutch for ZetecTurbo? ~200HP?

Postby disc on Thu Sep 21, 2006 12:18 am

Hi!
Few hours ago my clutch goes bad - clutch was standard 1.4 CFi item (220mm.) from previous engine. Engine is 1.8 ZT currently @8-10 Psi and still mapping it. I hope for 180-200HP. What clutch do you recommend?
Sorry for my bad english...

Ahhh look at you foreign people helping each other out :D:D:D

The AP organic clutch would possibly juuust about hold onto most of the power you're aiming for, but the 4 paddle would be the way to be certain of it. Must be going ok if it's killing clutches! :D 10psi is a good achievment so far :)

Thanks!

Alti, you got PM.

What cover/presure plate must be used with uprated clutch? Is Ford standard item will be good enough?

You can buy an uprated cover from anywhere that sells AP uprated clutches....if you buy it new you can usually get it all included in a set..clutch, bearing and cover :)

If you use a standard clutch cover with the paddle clutch it'll be about as effective as the Ford clutch/organic clutch!

The clutch cover AP supply with the paddle clutch is the same as the standard ford item.

Can anyone confirm this?

And what a shame! My clutch was only 190mm. (1.1L , 1.3L, 1.4L engines) So next logical question is:
Can I put 220mm. clutch with appropriate clutch cover on my Zetec flywheel (1800 cc.) with my gearbox (5-speed, old type, BC or IBP don't know difference, but not MTX75)? :-?

And if put MTX75 gearbox (it's Orion not Fiesta!), how hard is to convert Cosworth clutch (240 mm., same diameter as MTX's clutches) to be used, if it's possible? :Q

Thanks!

Shannon :Balls..

I was hoping id get away with the organic as its my daily drive :(

Don't worry, you'll get used to the paddle straight away! Just make sure the flywheel is skimmed :)

Edit: I'm fairly sure that the cover plate supplied with the AP Paddle is a standard one, so if you're using the car every day get a low lift cover from a Zetec car.

If still unsure give them a call I'm sure they'll be happy to help :)
