The little valve thingys between the master cyclinder and the brake pipes [ pressure-conscious reducing valves ] Can anyone please explain what they do ??
Thanks.

If they are the one I think you are talking about then they reduce the braking power to the rear brakes. As the rear of the car is lighter than the front the rear brakes would lock up if the same braking effort was supplied to the rear, therefore the valves are fitted to stop the rear brakes from locking up and causing a nasty skid - it would be worse then pulling the handbrake on

Erm pass I'd guess they have a similar valve somewhere else. I know that the FRST with ABS has load balancing valves attached to the rear beam to automatically bias the brakes.

Fitted to all models, but earlier versions had these restrictors fitted on the inner wing and afaik consist of a ball bearing which rolls forward under heavy braking to partially or completely block the pipes to the rear brakes.
Later models have two hexagonal blocks on the master cylinder which are connected to the rear brake pipes and do the same job, although I don't know if they work on the same ball bearing principle.
