What engine modifications shall i make to my mk 3.5 1.6 SI 16v. I dont really want to spend anymore than £400. Ive heard that theres not much you can do to the SI as it was built as an economy "sports" car. Is this true?

Yep that's true mate! You can do a few things though but it'll never be a missile! You could get the usual chip, induction kit & exhaust system for about £550 or about £450 with just a backbox instead of full system but you won't get any extra power from a backbox. If u want it to go a lot quicker then you'll be best off putting a different engine in but then you're talking a lot of money unless you can do it yourself. I had a 16v Si, put an induction kit, exhaust system & superchip on it, realised I wanted a lot more power and so put an RS1800 engine in. It wasn't that expensive because I got the engine cheap out of a written off RS and fitted it with a mate.

69, why won't a back box add power? The main restriction in power comes from the s-bend baffle in the back box.

Yeah, a larger bore can help but prob not so much in a 1.6 zetec.

Oh well....

How about dropping a 2L lump straight in? :???:

best thing you could ever do to it would be TURBO engine!

Sunny
Do you have any idea what 178.8mph feels like in a Fiesta? 2000 lb of pressure per square inch per second pushing back on your face. It feels like god himself is trying to rip the skin off your skull while someone lands a 747 on your chest.
