Postby MOONDUST FRST on Sun Oct 13, 2002 8:51 pm

Im rebuilding a 1.9 short engine(its a specialised engines one) Thing is it needs a rebore so ive gotta get new pistons so need to know which ones would be best? Mahle is the first option or are accrilite ones better Im gonna be running 240 bhp'ish plus might have the aid of a +50 bhp nitrous kit so would i need ceramic topped pistons and H shaped con rods :-? Let me know :)

I'd be interested in this as well as I'm currently rebuilding my RS.
I found in my engine that the standard pistons are actually made by Mahle, and before anyone says they also have Ford stamped on them.

Personally I would go for the Accuralite ones m8, they actually work out cheaper than the Mahle ones. Accuralite ones are £90+VAT and come with rings whereas the Mahle ones cost £99+VAT and do not come with rings. Rings are about £47. All prices from Burton Power.
Coming soon!!!!

ive just had a spec engine 1.9 low comp block built and from what i gathered they are the only ones who can supply the pistons.
mine where about £700.
thanks

accrilites are a bag of tug so ive been reliably informed also have you thoght about the stroke and the length of it >? this is the main argument for sticking with a 1600 cvh. a 1900 is not as strong and prone to failure so say some of the peeps on the RSOC BB have a look at some of the CVH vs Zetec posts on there

light bedtime reading :D
