what turbo for my frst????? t3 or hybrid t2
hi im currently have my engine rebuilt.
i've got as follows
0.5mm oversize pistons (will this lower the compression at all? and by how much rouhly?)
piper 285t2 cam
group A head gasket and bolts
beige injectors
stage 2 chip
pace intercooler
and im comsidering water injection as i can't be bothered to chop me bumper to fit a grs fount mounted incooler. am i right in thinking that water injection will alllow me to run more boost and prevent detonation?
all gonna b set up by PTS.
now it comes to the turbo i've got a cack standard t2 and i want an upgrade i was looking at the stage 2 hybrid with t25 compressor wheel. but to costs around 600 quid give or take. also bin thinking about the t3 conversion, ive heard the cam i got can make my engine quite laggy low down in the rev range, if i had a t3 would it make it even more laggy?(is there any hybrid t3 that aren't so laggy?) im looking for around 200bhp or a tiny bit more. i live on the isle of wight and our main longest straight road is the duel carridgeway which is about 800 yards. i want my car to pull like f**k up this road and beat all the little bi*chs in there r5 gt's and escorts rst's. i bin told by turbo technics to buy a hybrid t2 as this is all i would need to produce 200bhp as it can flow safely upto 18psi. what ur views?
also is there any companys that do the t3 conversion? i can get the turbo and all the bits ie manifold etc from ebay and other places could i do this conversion for cheaper than 600 quid?
i heard scc do it for a grand with turbo and all bits. how much do u think they would do it 4 if i supplied all bits?

personally i'd go with t2 hybrid i had one on mine it pulled from 2000rpm and went wild at 3000rpm t3 dont go wild till roughly 3000 and with plenty of mods the t2 can help u get too around 200bhp, but yes the max the hybrid can do is 18psi...also u will need a ap 4 paddle clutch to cope with the torque, but cvh wil only cope with around that over 200bhp means u gotta heavily modify ur cvh if u wanna stay with cvh, otherwise using zvh will see a safe 250bhp but u may aswell use a t3 on that conversion... so really with t2hybrid u will get close to 200bhp pull well all the way and b reliable if looked after....

Well i drove a T2.. and test drove a T2 hybrid..
The t2 on 14 psi.. (175BHP) was driving ok in normal weather condition .. but wasn't fun to drive when it was a bit wet.
The T2 hybdrid i drove had nearly the same characteristics as the standard T2 did.. only around 25BHP more..
It drove like hell .. but then again .. with wet underground.. no fun .. just spin..
The T3 i drive now is normal driveable in lower RPM even with Wet underground..
If i want the power.. al i have to do .. is push the pedal..
It's more driveable for me..

wayne!! :i basically got all the mods u got cept pace intercooler and the injectors
(but i got pace waiting to go on)
but i also got a t3 hybrid
there is so much lag im thinking of gettin nos to get it going.
kinda annoying
list your full spec mate, your spec probably aint balanced right
btw a T3 hybrid dont mean much, whats the spec?
louma, avoid pts its just my view that they are w@nk!
by all means you can still go there if u want
a piper 285T2 gives u $hit loads of lag with the wrong turbo and setup.
if i were u id stick with a std T3 running about a bar boost on a piper 285T with decent intercooler (not pace!) and a live map etc
if your engines in good nick, youll get 200bhp
adios

thats because they dont have the right tools/equipment to setup a frst ecu, and the beiges overfuel on idle unless properly mapped and run s**t
speak to stu @ msd or ahmed bayjoo for more info.
