My old XR2i was on 60mm springs with 196/45/15's and they rubbed quite badly on full lock, so on 16's would be even worse. Plus I think the rear tires will rub constantly on the bottom of the spring.
Stuck to the road well though

Depends on the car then as my xr2i has spax 60mm drop at the front and 40mm rear on 16" rims with 195/40/16" and they don't rub at all handles great but has got a stiffened shell and zetec s rear beam

I wouldn't want to drop it any lower than 40mm on 16s, especially if your going to put 205's on them
I would expect it to the scrub on full lock, mine does even with 15s

Im on the same and Ive trimmed the arches, still get rubbing when full lock one direction so im sure its just the track rod end. Handles great though.
Should really have a look at the latest noises coming from steering column though
