consider a 2.0 if u thinking of cams and chip... as the cost of them will be more than a 2.0 conversion i rekon!.... just a thought :)

I would say go 2l, as your engines done 103k?

using a mondeo lump you need to swap over your sump, oil pickup and water pump and it should drop straight back in and fire straight up on the same management cost you about £500 max i reckon. thats doing it yourself which you and a haynes manual could do it in a weekend.

you would get 136 bhp straight away :D

i am considering some kind of engine transplant but i dont know what, theres a bit much involved for an rsturbo swap so 2l might be my option, 500 sounds good for the swap, where will i get a decent mondeo engine though, is 500 including fitting and what good mods could a 2l lump take for a bit of extra ooomf? cheers for the advice guys

2l is defo the best option mate, look round scrapyards for 2.0l from mondeo's. The £500 is assuming that you will do the work yourself, you will be lookin at nearer £1k for someone to do it incl the engine.

As for the good mods of the 2l, cams, exhaust, chip and if you have lots of ££££ then turbo or throttle bodies. Although standard 2l will still be a big improvement on your current 1.8 as you will have abut 30bhp more and more torque
