the 1.6 si engine is s**t, as you cant really tune it. would be better than a 1.1 though :)
i think the best one was the 1.6 8v xr2i
if your gonna put in a 1.6 zetec (the si engine) you might as well get the 2.0 from a mondeo as it would be the same amount of work and probably around the same cost?
the rs1800 engine is quite good too, best top speed of the standard fiesta engines and only beaten in acceleration by the frst (i think)
not many people go for a 1.6 as an upgrade as you get a lot more for your money if you go staright for the 2.0

i have had both the 16v si and the xr2/xr2i and the cvh xr2i was far better

is your 1.1 inj or carb? if its carb i would say the cvh 1.6 xr2 would be a far cheaoer easyer option

unfortunately there arent really any that suit your situation. 1.6 si engine is rubbish and xr2i,xr2 and frst engines will demand such a high insurance premium its just not worth it tbh.

it will consume more petrol, demand a higher insurance premium, higher tax band and yes it will be quicker, but why not wait slightly longer and buy a car with a decent engine to start with.

not trying to dicourage you if its what you really want, but you have to ask is really it worth it? when my brother was 18 and wanted a quick car he didnt contemplate engine conversions etc as insurance would have been far to high, he bought a 106 rallye, which is a 1.3 and has over 100bhp. just an idea mate, might be something worth looking into, as i remember what it was like at 18 and wanting more power

Hello,

If I were you I would be asking my insurance company that question, the moment you start altering the mechanics they go absolutely ape.

I read an article on here somewhere explaining how they re-calculate premiums, which said engine up-grades says your going to drive faster and as such will have more accidents so premiums sky rocket. Seriously check first.....

Kind Regards

Although it sounds odd I believe you might find it cheaper on the insurance front to put a 2.0l in than to put an XR2i engine into the car you have. As said check up for a quote you might find it surprising.
Those that can, do; and those that can't, talk about it.
