Between an air filter and an air induction kit? Do induction kits suck in air to keep the engine cool or what? Sorry,i know nothing about it.

Because .................... they can be less restrictive then the factory made airbox and the cheap and nasty paper airfilter. But this does NOT mean all engines will instantly give you more power and torque by fitting and induction kit.

Induction kits if placed wrong can pull in warm air for the engine and will probably loose power, so you can fit a cold air feed or maybe buy a K&N panel for the standard air box. Some people even fit the induction kit in the air box, the new expensive ones like the pipercross viper have the induction kit inside a heatshield and come with a cold air feed.

Out of interest, do K&N actually make heatshields for their kits?

Auto Specialists to a stainless heatshield for Escort Zetecs. It looks as though it'd fit Fiesta zetecs too though so I might invest sometime if I feel the need.
