wheel ofset

Postby xrsi on Tue Feb 14, 2006 5:40 pm

right im looking at a set of wheels for the girlfriend to put on her 206...

the ofset needed is 25, now if i were to get a set of wheels of ofset 35, would 10mm spacers make them 25 or 45?

cant remember which way it goes!

To be honest mate you would be better off buying wheels that are the right offset from the outset. Spacers are always a bit of a frowned on way of achieving the result, although used coreectly they can work well.

yeah i know the ideal situation is to use the correct ofset and that large spacers do put more stress on components, however 10mm aint a huge spacer to be using and prob wouldnt have any extra effect over a correct ofset wheel!

only prob i can see is it catching cos it has a spacer to cahnge ofset....

There are a few more issues than that mate but you are on the right track. If you can get spacers that have a locating ring as on the hub then you will probably be fine. Don't forget you will need longer wheel bolts/studs

yeah i know that about location rings on hubs/spacers, it stops shear forces acting on the nuts or bolts etc

yeah longer bolts are a must as otherwise it would only be held on by a couple of threads! NOT GOOD!

main concern really is how it would fit as opposed to a proper ofset wheel, oh and i still cant remember which way spacers go!?!

do they increase or decrease the number?
