Wheel Question / Fitment Query

Postby martyb27 on Tue Jun 03, 2014 2:15 pm

Right, I am so fed-up of looking at wheels for MK 3 Fiesta that I have decided to post this for some help...

Q: Will 15 x 7J alloy wheels with 195/45/15 fit on a MK 3 XR2i Fiesta without rubbing and what is the maximum offset that I could get away with? again, without rubbing.

The car is currently sat on 13 x 5.5J wheels and have an offset of ET30 but they offer next to know grip, the suspension is being changed and the tyres are naff so going to upgrade everything in one swoop. Car lowered 35mm all round on shocks and springs

I would really appreciate some help on this as I'm loosing the will to live! Finally, my car is diamond white and am unsure on what colour wheel to go for... white and white... white and black or white and dark grey etc... thoughts and pics would be awesome

CheeRS everyone!

ET35 is the "standard" offset for most alloy upgrades and the most common. It's not unknown for people to run ET38, sometimes ET40 but these 2 will most probably require spacers. I'd go with ET35 and possibly add 5mm spacers only if required :)

As for the wheel and tyre size itself, that's pretty much bang on. You can sometimes get slight scrubbage on full-lock or if the shocks are a bit soft but it's not hard to cure.

White or dark grey/charcoal wheels :D

Not sure if itl help you much but I run Saxo fitment alloys which are around 20mm further outwards than ford so around Et16 ish? With a slight trim to the arch lip I don't get any scrub what so ever .. Altho my car is on gaz coilovers but is lowered quite a fair bit a lot lower than my old 60mm kit that's for sure, you should be fine with et30's I run 195/45/15 also

I would like to get some RONAL TURBO Wheels

15 x 7J with 28 Offset, will they stick out too far and rub my arches?

They'll poke out a little bit yes. And if the suspension's slightly soft then you will certainly scrape into the tyre tread. You could look into arch-rolling but it starts to get a bit extreme then lol.

Well it's only 10mm out from standard and a fair few people fit spacers to then as the ford offset sits the wheels quite a fair bit inside the arches, all iv done to mine is cut the arch lip off that sticks out into the arch and I don't get any scrubbing at all, I can't see 10mm outwards causing any troubles myself, think people worry too much
