Wheel rubbing.

Wheel rubbing.
I have fitted escort cosworth calipers and discs to my frst using 5mm spacers for the calipers. Now if i turn the steering wheel anymore than half a turn the wheel rubs on the shock!!! My wheels already have a offset of 40. Surely i dont need longer studs and spacers to sort this little problem out???
Cheers for any help.

Fitting escort cosworth calipers shouldn't have any thing to do with the wheels rubbing that's to do with wheel's and tyre's

It won't be the tyre's rubbing look at your disc's if there getting all scratched up which would sound like some thing rubbing that will be because you havn't spaced out the calipers right and the caliper carriers are touching the disc's. That's what happend to me when i had to take my caliper off a few weeks ago and i drop 2 washers which i didn't see and i put it back together

What size are your wheels mate cus my wheels on my frst used to catch the suspension and the inner arch ive had my arch ground out enough for clearance and ive got some spacers to miss the suspension. My wheels are 16" with 195/40/ on but also ive got the adjustable spax on (tensioners) so it sits low anyway. hope that helps prob not

Sorry people only just noticed you have all replied due to the fact my girlfriend keeps deleting the emails telling me im getting replies!!!!!!
j7aoc turns out your right on this occasion and it is to do with the spacers on the caliper. I spaced them out at 6mm originally and forgot i then tried 5mm. So that extra mm made all the difference!

RS_Raz :None of you should be using washers! The bolts will eventually work their way loose. Not a good outcome. You should have spacers made up and tacked onto your hubs.
Listen to the kid - washers are fine to get your spacing, but you REALLY shouldn't be using them on the road.
Use the washers to work out your thickness, then have a spacer-plate made up from something hard, like steel, to make it safe.
Apart from anything else, washers can deform, allowing the caliper to vibrate.
