K&N are usually what most people use.

Check Ebay, probably be the cheapest place.

You could just drill some holes in your airbox, if all your buying it for is the sound, as drilling holes will sound the same and usually louder.

No it's not really just for the sound. What will an air filter bring to my car? More responsive etc?

would something like this be ok? and again, what would it do?

Depending on the engine and set up can depend on the gains from the filter. It can increase power, responsiveness.. those are the most basic things, the amount that it increases will depend on the setup you have as i said. Also it depends where you put it too, if its near the manifold or anything it will just be sucking in heat which is no good really, best to have a cold air source for it...

To be honest, instead of asking questions on here and waiting for a reply, google for info about it all, you will find alot more info, also try googling for info on them on mk4 fiestas but for your engine size and setup and see what gains people have got. Most will say its alot faster in acceleration, but normally its not actually true, because its louder it makes you think its faster. But some cases are true, you might get that tiny bit quicker reponse on the throttle.

But if you need any more info, just ask, someone will help.

Also, what other fairly low cost things could I add to it to give it a little performance boost/increased responsivness without making it sound too chavvy and as though all I'm going for is the sound.

how is that possable? the best think to do imo is get a cone filter for it and posision it to the front of the car with the most cold air access pos but you prob wont notice anything if its a 1.25 and has no other mods
