Which bloody oil!

Postby festaturbo on Tue May 07, 2002 10:05 pm

I have a FRST with a stage 1 tune on 72k, what oil is best for the car. Many people i speak to say full synthetic others say thats far too thin. 10w40 semi sythetic is also a recommended one but ford recommend 10w30 mineral oil. I rang roung a few Performance tuning garages who specialise in RS's n they also so said stick to mineral. WHICH ONE

Sorry to bring this topic up again

thanks Iceman ;)

I have a stage1 FRST with 130k+ and i use 5w 40 fully synthetic oil.....I use Valvoline. Dont bother with the over priced Castrol or Mobil 1 ;)

cheers :)

Ford don't recommend 10W30 mineral :oooh: they recommend their own Formula S fully Synthetic 5W40.
I use the 10W60 Castrol RS as it offers the higher temp protection needed in the turbo :Q but i know people like fezzy turbo that use the 5W40, and have no problem, so as long as its fully synthetic and one of the above grades it will be ok.
oh and don't use the mobil motorsport 15W50, its piss thin and makes your car tap tap tap.
