which engine
ok when the time comes to boot my reliable yet noisy 1.3 hcs out my mk4, im not gunna want be pushed everywhere, so im thinking either a 1.7 puma or FRST. As far as i know there both good engine and have good and bad points against each other.
which engine will offer me the best way of gettin roughly 200bhp, i know the puma has raw grunt, and the FRST has lots of potential, but long term and cash saver which would you peeps drop in??

You won't get 200bhp from the 1700 Puma motor without spending a spork load on it, even then you would be left with a car that would be near undriveable on the road. The FRST motor will get you to 200bhp but then you have to ask yourself whether you'd just be better off buying a Fiesta RS Turbo.
For day to day trouble free use I would opt for the Puma motor with a few tweeks to help it along in the power stakes. It's a superb engine and loves to rev

Getting a 2L N/A to 200bhp is not as cost effective as say 1.6CVH, beiges, chip, T3, -31 and IC.
You could probably pic up a CVH with all the work done to it too.

I don't know big turbo's have a great effect. Find me a 2.0 Zetec that puts out the same torque as a stock 1.6CVH from an RST?

ive got a 2 litre mondeo, quick enough for a daily hack, foooking awesome engine. takes more abuse than you can dream of. thrashed to within an inch of its life everyday. has been driven with no oil before and no water on various occasion due to faults and it keeps soldiering on!!! and is still no slower than it was before. Has done 120k and ticks over perfectly. oil, plugs and filter every now and again to keep it fresh and there is a reliable yet modable engine ready to go. i'd love a mk2 fiesta to put it in, or any fiesta or mk3/4 escort tbh. GEt a 2 litre in there!!!you wont regret it. sod turbos. my rst is hassle!!!mondeo super reliable
