Which Fiesta?

Im planning to buy a Fiesta but cant decide to settle for a XR2i or RS1800i.
I know the RS has 20bhp more but is it really worth spending the xtra cash on the car and insurance? Especially at 19! Ultimatly I would opt for the RS Turbo but the insurance just laughted and I could not be f**ked with knackered TURBOS.
Any way would either of the fietas really and I mean really rip a 214SEI rover 95bhp (seems faster) and a corsa GSI [ERRR] if not its not its not worth my time!

The RS1800 would cost more to insure than the RS turbo being 1 group higher, RS1800 is group 16, and is slower than the turbo.
Both should beat the rover. The Corsa GSI would maybe beat the XR2i (similar performance figures) but will not beat the RS1800.
Hope this helps.

i'd go for the turbo, its the quickest and cheaper to buy and insure than the RS1800i, just look carefully before you buy and you'll get a good one. The RS1800i is a top car as well though. the xr2i is a great car too, but not really in the same performance league as the RST and RS1800i

why not get a XR2i 16v 94+ model as the chasis was far better and more safety features added etc, and upgrade the 105bhp engine to full 130bhp spec and then some, giving u cheap insurance and turbo type speed, you will just have to spend some cash on throttle body, cams, chip, usual exhaust and filter, shouldnt b far off 130bhp then.

why bother moding a 105bhp when you can buy 130 to start with. Because its rare, you are more likely to find a well looked after RS1800 as the owners take more care. The Xr2i's are normally mashed.
I would buy the RS, but then I would say that. I just love the look on peoples faces when they see my car's on an M plate. Ive had 2 races where I have won only to have the other drivers say 'it was a M reg, so we thought it was a kitted 1.1' Nice

Why are there so many RS Turbos for sale if there so good? XR2Is AND RS1800 seem rare in comparison!
Is the Turbo better on fuel that the other 2 due 2 the smaller engine?
And what miles do they reach on the clock b4 they give the goat?

Fraser, it would be cheaper to buy an RS1800 than upgrade a 2i 16v to RS1800 spec, especially since technically you need to change the block to one with the oil spays.
Unless, of course, you were suggesting a little insurance fiddling....??? :-O

Marcob,
i have found that my FRST is really good on fuel if you poodle around sometimes and not boosting between every gear change.
You asked how long they go for, i'm not too sure myself, but i remember seeing SteveRS's car at Fiesta In the Park and his mileage was over 100k. In the recent rolling road day we all had, Steves car ran 146bhp with only a SS exhaust. Pretty impressive, a 13bhp gain from an exhaust and with an engine with this amount of mileage.
For how long the turbocharger actually goes for it's self, i've heard of turbos going for over 90k miles, but some going around 70k.
What determines the life of a turbo, apart from decent frequent oil changes i suppose?
Mark.
