I think that the escort rst lumps use different mounting points but I have seen it done in one of the cars in the gallery in this site. I think it was the one with 306 headlights. The rst gearbox has an LSD and both should fit but I think the actual bias on the two different diffs are slightly different. To be honest Im not entirely sure. :D

personally don`t really rate escort lsd boxes, if you want an lsd then get a quaife, lol, but yup either fits, s1 has longer 5th i think!. frst box is fine as long as u look after, lsd just adds to more things to go wrong.. and escort turbo block has no provision for crank sensor, needs to be modded..

the S2 has the taller 5th gear...the S1s are geared for better acceleration...and they do not have LSD.

as far as i know the block will fit as all CVH's have the same mounting points.

where abouts are u..and are u definately getting the S1 as my uncle might want some parts off it...

S1 has LSD - it's more harsh than the S2's as the S2's LSD was "dumbed down" for road use, much like the change of design between S1's arches and the S2's.

Out of interst will the s1 rst g/box bolt onto the zetec block (2 litre). As an Lsd would be nice to have with the extra power etc.

B5 box is B5 box, they are all interchangeable between cars, only way to see if its genuine is to jack it up and check for slip diff, or look inside where the d/shafts go. can`t tell from casings.. diff between s1+s2 is that s1 used 200mm clutch where as s2+turbo used 220mm clutch.. if i got that round the right way, lol

S1 ERST gearbox is indeed shorter 5th gear then S2 ERST.
S1 and S2 LSD's are both gonna be better than none at all, but i personally would use the S1 one as it's a bit more aggressive :D

S1 ERST box will indeed fit but may also have the extra S1 mount still on it as it's mounted in different places than a FRST/S2 ERST

HTH

Still £600 for loads of S1 parts is good price :D when you're ready to break it send me a mail of bits you've got and prices to nthorpey@btopenworld,com as i know a few people that are after S1 stuff

You will find the series one box runs a 4:1 final drive which means it will be quick through the gears as opposed to the lower 3:85 I think it is in the S2 box.

The series one LSD IS better than the S2 although both are a HUGE improvement over nothing and EVERY Frst or equal powered fiesta should have one if you cant afford a quaife jobbie, otherwise your wasting your money on getting huge power that you cant use properly!

I recently fitted a S2 ERST box to my FRST and god damn it makes a huge difference. I get more traction round bends and roundabouts at the front end which means its much easier to provoke the ass end out, which is what I like. The LSD makes a FRST feel like a proper go-kart, go for it, you won't regret it.
