Which Intercooler?

Postby Ixion on Mon Jun 26, 2006 6:14 pm

Just wondering if anyone can give me any Intercooler advice please?
My RST is currently fitted with a 160bhp superchip but in the future I would like a Evolution 197 chip with uprated Actuator and 701injectors. I would imagine a upgraded intercooler would be a must with that setup so what are my options, and if possible I would like one that can be fitted without any surgery to the body as I would like to keep the car standard looking.
Thanks.

Any of the efficient intercoolers will require some surgery to get them in. Pro Alloy seems to be very popular and from those I have seen work very well.

You can get away with the double cpacity Pace item but in all honesty it isn't really up to the job.

Stick to the known makes Pro Alloy, RadTec, GRS etc and you can't go far wrong. A small amount of fettling should not be cause for concern as long as it's done right and not butchered

Ive got a pro alloy i/c that fits where the original i/c fits, similar to the pace double capacity but better imo. It requires no modification and keeps good ACT's on a car running 160-170 bhp.
Ive also got a grs evo3 that will probably be fitted at some ponit but the front valance and bumper need chopping.

What are peoples views on the Pro-Alloy double capacity intercooler?

Ive got one and cant fault it, obviously never be as efficient as a front mount i/c due to position and size but if your after something discreet that fits in place as standard this is the one. Much better than the similar pace i/c from experience.
