Having been on a full G-Max kit for near enough a year now, I can recomend them on good experience. Not exactly a harsh ride but stiffer to the right degree over standard equipment.
As has been said, for £200 you really can't go wrong

Nope. Just SPAX adjustables and Eibach, which is why i didnt say anything about GMAX Foo How about just waiting till FITP and blagging rides in everyones cars to help you decide?

Well, i have Spax PSX adjustable kit on mine and i am very pleased with it. I have had the kit for ages!! and the car handles like a dream, but yes it can be a wee bit hard but the front and rear strut braces dont help that either

AFAIK Ian has around £300 to spend on dampers and springs
Bilstein Original Dampers aren't proper Bilsteins they are made by Sachs/Boge
The Streetline Kits also use these Sachs dampers
Any other bilsteins are gonna be way out of his price range

Jondel Motorsport in Northampton do a Bilstein budget kit (springs and shocks) for £220
I used to have them on my mk3 cabriolet when i ran 17's and I thought they were a really good ride and really cheap as well.
I am thinking about putting them on my fiesta once the wheels go on!

stoned there adjustable
you can make it as hard ro soft as you like.
but if you want no scrubbing with big wheels it wil need to be set to hard.

I've got my ride set relatively hard on the front and a bit softer at the back (so that the back end doesn't decide to swap ends round fast corners!). I've also got it set level all round making the car more neutral when entering into corners.
I find it amazing how when you cruise over bumpy roads the ride is incredibly smooth but then amazingly grippy round fast corners - it outhandles my mates Mk6 RS2000 4x4 which has amazing grip!
I can't say how good the H&R ones are but I think my £520 has been well spent.
My mate Simon did most of the setting up for me (he's a bit of a past master at fitting the AVO coilover kits to cars - he fitted some of the first ones before they put nickel plating on the adjuster threads!) and he thought about taking it all off when he first put it on (the back was too high and locked the rear wheels up on heavy braking) but making the car a level ride height all round, making the back a bit softer than the front makes for alot less torque steer, much better cornering, much less torque steer and even a noticeable reduction in wheelspin (although this has been helped by lovely Yokohama AVS sport tyres which won't last 5 minutes but grip like bastids!).
It's like driving a turbocharged go-kart!
I have to say a big thank you to XFactor for selling me the kit at this price - very good service too!
Cheers,
Andy
P.S. Here's a link to my gallery post with the AVO suspension just fitted onto my RS:

IMHO Spax are very good, yeah the ride is a bit harsh but surely you lower a car to make it handle better? Mines like a go-cart and far better than my mate's who has G-Max You have to make compromises, better handling = less comfort
