Which Suspension Kit?

Postby DeanoW on Wed May 28, 2003 12:21 pm

Searched for this and found loads so i'll just ask again.

I've got a 16v and have recently swapped over to standard suspension from a Spax kit which was just too hard for every day driving, but I now need it lowered again but for something a little easier on the bumps.

Any suggestions?

I've got spax shocks and jamex springs and they are hard as nails

I have however just purchased a nice H&R Coilover set so I'll let you know how they turn out.

£740, you can get cheaper coilovers though. X-Factor sell the Avo's for £520. I got the H&R's though since I wanted the best.

Chum: you were one of the people that recommended them to me a while back. They are going on the car on Friday - cant wait :D

I only wish the springs had been red like my car, they are blue :(

Which 16v have ya got ?

if you are looking to spend £400 inc fitting then go for the KYB GAS Shocks with Eibach Springs combo

should cos ya under £280 for the lot

Jay @ X-Factor can get you the springs and ya should find a local motor factor will stock KYB dampers

if ya need KYB's number to find ya nearest stockist just give me a shout :D

Not in the case of the original question above. DeanoW wants to know what the best handling/ride suspension set-up for his 1.8 16v (i believe) would be.

Has any1 heard of Gaztronic coilovers (GAZ)?
Apparently they are about £450 and beat AVOs for road handling so must be worth a little extra than just getting a Koni or Spax kit IMO.

Yeah i've heard of GAZ, they're based in Basildon, Essex. They don't sell to public just Trade, a Carnoussier ( however you spell it) in Westcliff/Southend Does them. If you need the number then look in one of those lax power type mags as carnoussier is a big franchise.

I enquired about a Adj shox and springs set up and the guy said he can do em for £280, which I think is a Pukka price !

I got G-Max in the as I couldn't afford Gaz, plus I hadn't heard much about them either. They do a shít load for Mini's though!

So does anyone know which suspension kit lowered 60mm all round gives the best comfy ride for about £400? If spax is to hard what are the others like chassis dymanics, Avo's, eibach and koni's?
